Cashier Attacked By Man in Skin-tight Jeans

Man pulls cashier from behind counter and assaults her

CHARLESTON — A woman working as a cashier at the Kangaroo on Savannah Highway was attacked last Wednesday after an argument with a former employee, according to a Charleston Police Department report.

The victim had gotten into an argument with another woman who used to work at the store and told her to leave the business. After the former employee left, the man she was with, described as a 5-foot 9-inch tall black male weighing about 130 pounds and wearing skin-tight blue jeans and a dark colored shirt, entered the store and slapped her, the report states.

The assailant then grabbed the employee by the shirt, pulled her from behind the counter and threw her to the ground, continuing to strike her, according to the report. Several customers who were in the store at the time pulled the man off of the cashier and called police.

The assailant and the former employee fled the scene in a silver 1998 Oldsmobile GLS before officers arrived, the report stated.

I'm not certain about the Kangaroo, but the majority of the convenience stores in West Ashley, like the In & Out Convenience Store on Ashley River Road at Dogwood Road, and the Qwik Stop Convenience Stores on Sam Rittenberg Blvd at Ashley Hall Road and the one on Ashley River Road in the Wespanee shopping center have their front windows plastered with extremely tacky poster board advertising cigarettes, beer and other items. A passerby cannot even see into the store to be able to tell if the store is being robbed. Why do the owners of these stores feel the need to fill their windows full of very tacky looking paper and neon signage. This is just asking for trouble. Any smart businessman knows that you should have maximum visibility into your store from the road so that passersby can view inside at all times. These businesses that I've mentioned above could not possibly fit one more tacky sign in their front windows because every square inch of glass is covered. This is not only extremely unattractive but a huge security concern.
