Fighter Jets Plan July 4 Flyover
Military aircraft plan to fly entire coast in 30 minutes on July 4.
If you're late, you might just miss it. Salute from the Shore is again organizing a low-altitude flyover of South Carolina beaches on July 4.
Planes will cross over the North Carolina border at 1 p.m. sharp and exit the state in Hilton Head at 1:30 p.m. Organizers hope to have 1 million spectators on Palmetto State beaches for the occasion.
Curious about other Fourth of July events in the Lowcountry? Patch has a comprehensive listing.
Air Force F-16 Vipers from the 79th Fighter Squadron “The Flying Tigers” of the 20th Fighter Wing from Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter will pilot the first wave of the mission followed by other aircraft, including historic craft.
Organizers say the aircraft will be visible from every South Carolina beach, including Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island and Folly Beach. They encourage spectators to wear red, white and blue.
