The S.C. House Ethics Committee said Thursday it will hold a hearing June 28 on allegations that Gov. Nikki Haley lobbied illegally while a House member.

The committee will decide what witnesses to subpoena at a meeting next Thursday. Haley also will be allowed to call witnesses at the hearing, according to a report by The State newspaper.

It's unclear whether Haley will be subpoenaed, the paper said. The governor has been accused of lobbying illegally for Lexington Medical Center and Wilbur Smith Associates while she served in the House. Haley earned $110,000 annually as a fundraiser for the hospital, and earned $42,500 for her work as a consultant for Wilbur Smith.

Haley has vigorously denied any illegality or ethics violations. 

“Throughout this unprecedented process, the governor has given whatever information the committee asks for – and more – and she will continue to do so," Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey said.

The ethics committee had previously closed the case, but reopened it after it received additional information about Haley's work for the two organizations. 

Testimony could last two days, the paper reported. When it concludes, the committee will decide whether to dismiss, impose fines, or refer the case to the state Attorney General's Office.
