Legal Challenge for Thurmond Coming Monday
Former Charleston County Democratic Party Chair George Tempel plans to challenge the candidacies of Paul Thurmond and Walter Hundley in court Monday
South Carolina Senate District 41 candidate Paul Thurmond said he expected a challenge to his remaining on the ballot, and it will be heard in the Charleston County Court of Common Pleas on Monday.
George Tempel, a resident of District 41 and former Chair of the Charleston County Democratic Party is bringing the suit, according to the Charleston Post and Courier.
Thurmond told Patch.com that he believes he qualifies for the public official exemption that was at the center of the South Carolina Supreme Court's most recent decision.
