Ernell Simpson Jr., 23, has been charged by Charleston Police in the Sunday, Jan. 8 armed robbery at the Publix on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, according to a police statement.

Police allege Simpson is one of three men that entered the grocery store shortly before 10:30 p.m. Sunday to rob it. One of the men was armed with a handgun, though the statement does not specify if Simpson or one of his alleged accomplices weilded the weapon. The men left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported during the robbery.
