The Charleston Police Department is looking for a 17-year-old West Ashley resident who is wanted in a string of vehicle break-ins between June 3-4, according to a statement released Tuesday.

William Justus Porter is charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, but police not been able to locate him. Porter was last seen at Motel 6 on Savannah Highway July 2, according to the statement. He is believed to be in the company of his girlfriend.

Between 10 p.m. June 3 and 9:45 a.m. June 4, police said someone broke into three vehicles at two homes on Pristine View Road, rifled through the belongings in the car and stole aproximately $5 in coins, 25 prescription pills and a black Nike bag from one one vehicle. Five bungee cords were taken from another vehicle, according to an incident report.

Police recovered a piece of paper with fingerprints on it from one of the vehicles and were able to match those samples to Porter's prints which police had on file, according to investigative reports provided by police.

He "broke into 3 cars" so I sincerely hope so too. Would you like to walk outside and find the windows of your car broken and your property damaged? You think this kind of thing won't escalate? Why do you think they had his fingerprints on file?
