Everybody loves pasta, but where can you get the best Italian food?

If you can’t fly to Italy take in a dinner in Tuscany, perhaps you can find a little Rome near home.

If you are looking for a local restaurant with an Italian flair, where do you go?
Is there a place that makes a marvelous chicken Marsala? The perfect sauce to complement fettuccine? Or for the traditionalists, the perfect blend of spaghetti and meatballs?

Vote for your favorite restaurant in Goose Creek, Mount Pleasant, Summerville and West Ashley to be part of our "Best Italian Restaurant" contest as Patch unveils its Readers' Choice. Nominations ended July 9. Winners will be announced in August.

Don't just vote, tell us why you picked your favorite in the comments. If your favorite isn't on the list, throw them a shout out in the comments below.

Gennaro's is the best ever! Delicious homemade Italian and fresh baked bread. I've never had a bad meal there, especially love their shrimp scampi over linguinni. The Red Pepper...not so much...I was served the worst burned eggplant parmesean I have ever eaten. Even when I complained, the server only said the regular chef was sick and did not offer to replace or discount. That will be my last trip there!

Gennaro's for the classic Italian food. But Tomatoes has some really great Italian too, different style. And amazing Tiramisu.
