While fresh vegetables may be found throughout the year, summer time always makes you think about visiting the farmer’s market and produce stands much more often.

The grill is being used more these days and what provides a better side to that steak, chicken or fish than a side of grilled vegetables.

Looking for the best produce in town? Walter at Bi-Lo isn’t the only one who’s trying to satisfy your need for great fruits and vegetables.

Local produce stands and farmer’s markets provide a variety of goods in addition to a fresh assortment of produce.

Have a produce stand or farmer’s market that you frequent? What makes you go back? Great service? Great prices? Great vegetables? Or the little things you stumble across like real vanilla extract, local honey and strawberry preserves?

Vote for your favorite in Goose Creek, Mount Pleasant, Summerville and West Ashley in our "Best Produce Stand or Farmers Market" contest as Patch unveils its Readers' Choice. Nominations ended July 9. Winners will be announced in August.

Don't just vote, tell us why you picked your favorite in the comments. If your favorite isn't on the list, throw them a shout out in the comments below.

Love the Farmers Market over at Moultrie Middle in Mt. P. It isn't unreasonably big like the one downtown, or unreasonably small like the one in the Mt. Pleasant Town Center. The music/entertainment is always great, and the merchants have some of the best items around.

When the Farmer's Market isn't in season, I love Boone Hall Farm's market.
