The audience, overwhelmingly comprised of Colbert Busch supporters, said she showed an ability to stand up to the former governor.

Ginger Sottile said the Pelosi references were a way for Sanford to avoid questions.

"I learned how Lulu felt on some of the issues," Sottile said. "Sanford avoided most of the questions and I was disappointed that he kept bringing up Nancy Pelosi."

Stephanie Hunt said, "This showed that a bunch of hashed-out statistics cannot cover up failed leadership on Sanford's behalf."

The Sanford supporters didn't take kindly to the crowd of Colbert Busch supporters who continually interrupted the debate.

Alexander Hall, a Citadel graduate and local lawyer, said the display showed that the Colbert Busch supporters were not a "party supported by class" because of the outbursts.

Other Sanford supporters didn't believe the promises and convictions Colbert Busch made throughout the debate.

Barbara Boilston, a Sanford supporter, said, "That democrat is not being honest about who she's supported by," talking about the alleged support she's getting from Washington democrats.

"She's not for me," Boilston said. "She's just going to be another voice for the Obama agenda. The democrats are buying this election."
