What Should Go Here: Sofa Express
Coming out of the Great Recession empty storefronts are pretty common, but we want to know what Patch.com users want to see fill those empty business properties
Throughout West Ashley most of the vacant and disused business properties are relatively small spaces, but there are a few big ones covering tens of thousands of square-feet each.
The former home of Sofa Express at 1720 Sam Rittenberg Blvd is one of those big spaces. Encompassing several retail suites in Village Square Shopping Center, this, like last week's What Should Go Here at 1812 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., would make a great spot for a large arts and crafts supply store like Michael's, Hobby Lobby or A.C. Moore.
We're sure it would also be a great spot for several other types of businesses. So we're asking you, what should go here?

A Michael's or AC Moore would be terrific! I would also love to see West Ashley have its own Trader Joe's.

This space has been leased and is the future home of Badcock Home Furnishings.

Hi Todd,
Thanks for the update, it's great to see businesses moving into these open spaces, especially so soon after Marshall's left. Some of the locations featured in What Should Go Here have been vacant for years, it is encouraging to see that not every empty storefront is suffering that fate. Lately several new businesses have been popping up in West Ashley, perhaps it's a sign of strength returning to the local economy.
