Boeing's 787 Dreamliners began flying again Monday
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is flying once again. The first 787 to fly in months made a short flight from Houston to Chicago Monday, CNN reports. The planes had been grounded by the FAA since January when lithium ion batteries on a couple of Japanese planes caught fire. Boeing also found problems with fuel leaks in other planes. The Dreamliner had been cleared for a crew only flight back in February to test battery and fuel line fixes, but Monday is the first time passengers have been allowed back on the planes.

Biggest month-to-month drop in 25 years.
The unemployment rate in South Carolina fell from 8.4 percent in March to 8.0 in April, according to the latest report from the Department of Employment and Workforce. The month-to-month decrease is the largest since May of 1987 and the overall unemployment rate is now the lowest it's been since October 2008. Since April 2012 more than 26,000 jobs have been added to South Carolina's economy. All 46 counties added jobs in the last month and three counties--Charleston, Greenville and Lexington--now have unemployment rates below 6 percent. Four counties saw their rates drop a full point since March--Marion, Horry, Barnwell and York. "This drop in unemployment is yet another piece of great news for South Carolina," said Governor Nikki Haley…
Expansion will create 25 new jobs over three years.
SKF Group, a maker of precision bearings, today announced that it will expand its existing operations in Charleston County. The $3 million investment is expected to generate up to 25 new jobs over the next three years. “It’s the SKF philosophy to try to have production close to its customers, and we have the sufficient volumes today to make these investments, with the prospects for good growth in the future,” said Jack Bellomo, general manager of the SKF North Charleston facility. “We expect to increase the number of shifts in the new channel within the next few years.” SKF is expanding its North Charleston facility, and will operate as part of its recently established global business unit, known as Super Precision and Specialty Bearings. …

After a scoreless game and two scoreless overtimes penalty kicks decided the S.C. 2013 Lower State champion
Nobody likes a tie, so when Bishop England and Academic Magnet were both scoreless after regulation and two overtimes, the 2013 Lower State AA Boys Soccer title game went to penalty kicks. The Bishops outscored the Raptors 3-1 with goals from Drew Costa, Nick Saunders and Joel Bunting, the Post and Courier reports (subscription required). Bishop England will play Indian Land for the State Title at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Gilbert High School. The Bishops will be playing for a record 16th state championship.
