Holy City Earns Top Honors in Many Categories

Charleston was just named Friendliest City in the U.S., here's five other lists the Holy City wound up on in recent years.

Notice that Charleston has been named the friendliest city in America by Conde Nast on Tuesday calls to mind some of the other accolades the Holy City has been racking up.

In a related field, after winning the title of Most Mannerly City in the U.S. for 11 years in a row, the city was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Most Mannerly Cities List in August 2007.

And Charlestonians have long been recognized for their beauty. The city has placed in the top 10 of the Cities with the Most Attractive People lists for the past three years at least, hitting #4 in the 2012 list.

People all over the world love to come to the Holy City. Just last month Charleston was named as the top travel destination in the U.S. and number 4 worldwide by Travel + Leisure magazine.

We also like to kick back and have a good time in Charleston, which has been recognized by at least two list makers who keep track of the drunkest cities on the planet. U.S. News and World Report named Charleston its fifth booziest city in December 2011, and later that month the Daily Beast ranked the Holy City 12th in its list of Drunkest Cities.

Since the population likes to imbibe it's also a good thing that the city's hospitals and other medical facilities rank among the best nationally as well.
