Charleston is feeling the love again.

Conde Nast readers have once again voted the Holy City as the leader of the pack in a national poll. This time Charleston was named the "Friendliest City in the U.S."

Charleston beat out Galena, Ill. (#2); Savannah, Ga. (#3); Asheville, N.C. (#4); Austin, Texas (#5); Jackson, Miss. and Natchez, Miss. (tied for #7); Telluride, Colo. (#8); Sonoma, Calif. (#9); and Branson, Mo. (#10).

Lending credence to the idea that there is a kernel of truth behind most cliches, seven of the top 10 cities are southern, and five of the 10 Unfriendliest Cities are from the Northeast.

The mean cities include: Newark, N.J (#1); Oakland, Calif. (#2); New Haven, Conn. (#3); Detroit, Mich. (#4); Atlantic City, N.J. (#5); Los Angeles (#6); Albany, N.Y. (#7); Wilmington, Del. (#8); Anaheim, Calif. (#9); and Sacramento, Calif. (#10).

Charleston also wound up fifth on the Conde Nast list of "20 Friendliest Cities in the World." Asheville, Savannah and Galena also made it onto the international list.

Check out some of the other lists Charleston has made recently.
