H&M Coming to King Street

Retailer to open its first South Carolina store in Charleston in Fall 2013

Sweden based retailer H&M announced this week it will open its first South Carolina store on King Street in the Kress Building.

Rumors about the trendy retailer's plans for a Charleston store have been floating around for several years, but H&M finally confirmed it intends to open at 281 King St. this fall, the Post and Courier reports (subscription required).

H&M is moving into the 18,300-square-foot space Williams-Sonoma vacated earlier this year near the corner of King and Wentworth streets. It will carry men, women and children's clothing. It will employ 30-50 people, and will be a full concept store carrying all of H&M's lines.
