It may be the dog days of summer, but it’s kitten season at Pet Helpers! Just one month after Pet Helpers’ Kittenpalooza facilitated the adoption of 43 kittens, the no-kill animal shelter on James Island has filled back up with young felines.

As a result, Pet Helpers will be offering a $25 adoption special on all kittens, 5-months and under, Friday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 18.

“Our goal is always to avoid having animals growing up at Pet Helpers,” Executive Director Kevin Ryan said. “We are inundated with kittens and we are now counting on the Charleston community to step up – as it has so many times before – and give these kittens loving homes.”

All kittens will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated, tested for heartworms and microchipped prior to adoption. Adopting families also receive a bag of Hill’s Science Diet food and 30 days of free pet health insurance.

Pet Helpers estimates the average retail cost of services performed on its kittens to be $556.

“You are ultimately saving two lives every time you adopt an animal from Pet Helpers,” Ryan said. “You are saving the life of the pet you adopt and creating space for us to save another animal.”

Pet Helpers is located at 1447 Folly Road on James Island and is open 11am-6pm M-F, 11am-5pm on Saturdays and 12-4 pm on Sundays.
