Run Charleston's Beaches and Feed the Hungry

The second 5K/10K in the Capers Eco Run series is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18.

The series of races presented by Barrier Islands Eco Tours benefits Charleston Chef's "Feed the Need" program that provides food to those in need in the Charleston area.

Registration fees are $40 for adults for either the 10K or 5K run or the 5K walk. Registration fees for children younger than 12 are $25. Spectator only registration is available as well for $30. Adult registration fees will increase by $5 on Aug. 12, and spectator registration fees will increase by $5 on Aug. 14.

Participants need to arrive at Isle of Palms Marina prior to 9 a.m. on Aug. 18 to catch the ferry to Capers Island for the race. There is also a $3 parking fee at the marina, but participants are encouraged to bring $3 worth of canned or dry goods to cover the parking fee and help increase the "nourishing impact" of the race series, according to organizers.

Online registration is available through Active.com at http://m.active.com/running/isle-of-palms-sc/capers-ecorun-10k-and-5k-beach-run-walk-8-2013.
