Meeting Street Man Charged in Car Break-ins

Charleston Police charged a downtown resident with a series of car break-ins in West Ashley on Thursday.

Charleston Police on Thursday served several warrants on a Meeting Street resident in connection with a string of car break-ins on June 11.

Jerry Gardner Jr., 27, of Meeting Street, is charged with six counts of breaking into a motor vehicle and one count of property crime enhancement, according to a Charleston Police Department statement.

The charges stem from a series of car break-ins reported on June 11. Overnight someone had broken into six cars on Eagles View Drive in West Ashley. Several items were removed from the cars including sunglasses, DJ lights, a taser, a cellular telephone charger and a silver and gold sword.
