One Killed in High-Speed Motorcycle Crash

Police: Biker was traveling at high rate of speed before accident.

A motorcyclist has died on Folly Beach following a high-speed collision with a parked SUV, according to authorities.

Here's the report from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office:

On October 5, 2013 at approximately 6:00 p.m. Charleston County Traffic deputies, at the request of the Folly Beach Department of Public Safety, responded to E. Cooper Avenue at E. 2nd Street Folly Beach, to investigate a motorcycle accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed driving recklessly in the area and struck the rear of a parked SUV. The Operator of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the accident.

Prior to the collision several calls about the motorcycle driving reckless were received by Folly Beach Public Safety Dispatch. Investigation into the accident continues.
