VIDEO: SC Reps Rally at Take Our Country Back 2012

Five of SC's 7 Congressional Republicans speak outside Bi-Lo Center in Greenville.

Nathan Leupp had been planning the Take Our Country Back 2012 Rally for two months, so he could not have known that a shot in the arm is precisely what Palmetto State conservatives needed.

With Pres. Barack Obama starting to build a lead in polls, and with rival Mitt Romney taking what even many in his own party believe was an ill-conceived swipe at Obama’s Middle East strategy, conservatives were looking for a boost.

Leupp said he hoped the rally would energize conservatives in South Carolina to pitch in for the cause in swing states like Florida, Virginia, Ohio and, of course, neighboring North Carolina.

While the crowd outside the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville was significantly smaller than the original “Take Back” rally in 2009, it did not want for enthusiasm thanks to a powerful roster of speakers, featuring Sen. Jim DeMint, Reps. Tim Scott, Mick Mulvaney, Trey Gowdy and Jeff Duncan as well as State Attorney General Alan Wilson.

During his remarks, Wilson, who has been arguing for South Carolina’s Voter ID Laws in a Washington courtroom in recent weeks, told the crowd that he would also be challenging the constitutionality of the Dodd-Frank Bill. Dodd-Frank was passed in the summer of 2010 in response to the recession that many believe originated from unregulated Wall Street activities.

If excessive government intrusion was a major theme at Take Back Our Country 2012, it shared billing with relentless criticism of Obama, specifically his “failure to lead” as speakers and attendees put it.

Duncan even brought out an empty chair a la Clint Eastwood to hammer home the point.

wow! so now you're citing Washington Times - which was founded by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon - who created the Unification Church - and who was convicted of tax evasion and conspiracy - and whose newspaper has never made a profit in the 30 years its been in business, but that's okay because it gets funded by lobbyists and special interest groups. Keep it up, emergily fella! You make it so easy for folks to write you off. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_myung_moon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_times

Romney has never hidden his true colors and his supporters including and perhaps especially the ignorant poor will continue to support him to their own detriment. Why, I do not know.

You actually believe in trickle down redistribution, despite evidence that it doesn't work.
