A Hollywood couple have been charged in connection with hit and run that killed a horse in Adams Run in March
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says a Hollywood couple is responsible for a March 30 hit and run that left a horse dead and its rider injured. Caroline Muckenfuss and Steven Muckenfuss, of 8026 Highway 164, Hollywood, were taken into custody May 17 after CCSO investigators linked the couple to the 1990 Ford F250 pickup allegedly involved in the collision, according to a CCSO statement. Caroline Muckenfuss is charged with hit and run resulting in great bodily injury, malicious injury to animals, and failure to report an accident with personal injuries. Steven Muckenfuss is charged with misprision of a felony. Both were released on bond May 18.
Charleston Police are asking the public for help identifying a suspect
Charleston Police are asking for help identifying a suspect from an April 9, car break-in. Police released images of the man captured on closed circuit cameras at Costco, where he allegedly used credit or debit cards stolen from an employee's car. The victim, a cashier at Costco, left her car in the parking lot around 1 p.m. Her bank called her several hours later about several large anomalous charges at Costco, Wal-mart and the Food Lion on Ashley Crossing Drive, according to a CPD incident report. Also stolen from the car were a laptop computer, a wallet containing the victim's credit cards and a digital camera.

A Charleston County Sheriff's Deputy and another motorist are in the hospital following a collision Sunday.
An early morning collisions sent a Charleston County Sheriff's Deputy and another motorist to an area hospital, according to a CCSO statement. The collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Magwood Drive and Glenn McConnell Parkway. Both the deputy and the other motorist were transported to an area hospital for treatment. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the wreck.

One person was killed Thursday in a crash that happened in the Ashley Landing Shopping Center parking lot
One person was dead Thursday evening after a car traveling on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard left the road and collided with a car parked in Ashley Landing Shopping Center. The collision happened around 5:40 p.m. Thursday, according to a Charleston Police Department statement. The driver did not survive. A person inside the parked car at the time of the wreck was transported to an area hospital and is expected to be fine, according to the statement. Police are investigating what led to the collision.

Two people have been hospitalized.
An SCE&G utility truck fell from the Interstate 26 overpass leading from the Ravenel Bridge Tuesday afternoon, injuring two workers. Police say the truck was being escorted from the bridge by a marked cruiser when the retractable boom struck an overpass sign. The collision caused the truck to tumble from the overpass. It landed between the overpass and the E. Bay Street off-ramp. The workers were alert and talking when emergency help arrived, said police spokesman Charles Francis. Police were told the men suffered non life-threatening injuries and were being treated at MUSC, Francis said.
