Suspected senior Bank Robber Surrenders
Clyde Spillers arrested after turning himself in to U.S. Marshals.
CHARLESTON -The senior citizen who Charleston police said robbed a downtown Bank on Sept. 20 has turned himself in to U.S. Marshals. Clyde Spillers, 58, of North Charleston, is charged with entering a bank or loan institution with the intent to steal, according to a statement from Charleston police. Law enforcement allege Spillers walked into the bank wearing a No. 3 Dale Earnhardt cap, and demanded money with a note. Police immediately released high-quality photos of the aged Spillers, who had a scruffy beard and glasses during the hold-up. Police released Spillers' name and address earlier in the week after obtaining an arrest warrant.
