Minutes before the trial of two men accused of ambushing, robbing and killing Maraleius Birdsong, a pizza delivery driver, in 2012, one of the men agreed to testify against his alleged partner. Jontae Demetrius Davis pleaded guilty to manslaughter as the trial began and agreed to testify against Stephawn Sherrod Brown in the case.

North Charleston Police have arrested and charged Jontae Demetrius Davis, 17, in connection to the armed robbery and murder of Maraelius Birdsong.
North Charleston investigators have arrested and charged 17-year-old Jontae Demetrius Davis in connection with the Friday night armed robbery and killing of 20-year-old Maraelius Birdsong outside of the Appian Way Apartment complex. Davis turned himself in to police headquarters Tuesday afternoon and has been charged with armed robbery and murder. He will be lodged at the Dorchester County Detention Center pending an 11 a.m. bond hearing Wednesday. At about 8:30 Friday evening, officers responded to Appian Way Apartments in reference to a male victim being shot during a robbery. Stephawn Sherod Brown arrested on charges of murdering pizza delivery man.
North Charleston Police have arrested a man they say shot a Domino's pizza delivery man at Appian Way Apartments Friday night. The apartments are on Patriots Boulevard in the lower end of Dorchester County. According to police, Stephawn Sherod Brown, 18, was one of two suspects who allegedly robbed and then shot Maraleius Birdsong, 20, who was at the apartments delivering a pizza. However, when he tried to make his delivery, the residents told him they did not order any pizza, according to police. After suffering a gunshot wound to the head, he was transported to MUSC in critical condition where he later died. Brown was arrested for the incident Saturday. In addition to the charge of murder, he also faces charges of armed robbery. …
