Multiple media outlets are reporting that Gov. Nikki Haley will speak at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa later this month. The news was first reported by the Tampa Bay Times on Sunday evening. Haley is joined on the speaking roster by two other leading women in the Republican Party, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Presumptive nominee Mitt Romney's main rivals from the 2008 presidential campaign, John McCain and Mike Huckabee were also given slots. Fox News event in downtown Charleston hosts five of six candidates to help undecided voters make up their minds.
CHARLESTON — Not everyone leaving Saturday's undecided voters candidate forum left definitely decided. Rep. Tim Scott and Fox News host Mike Huckabee hosted five of the six GOP presidential hopefuls at the College of Charleston's Sottile Theater. The event featured a non-combative format, where candidates fielded questions from the audience and weren't allowed to engage with each other. Texas Rep. Ron Paul did not accept the invitation to event. Scott said between 11 and 16 percent of S.C. Republicans are still undecided and half those who have decided are willing to change their vote. Questions coming form undecided voters at CofC event.
Former Arkansas governor and 2008 GOP Primary candidate Mike Huckabee may not be on the ballot this year, but he is coming back to South Carolina on Jan. 14 to get some questions answered for undecided primary voters. Next weekend is already expected to be a busy, with Tea Party groups hosting a conference in Myrtle Beach while the South Carolina GOP takes over the Grand Strand with several events — all of it leading up to a Monday night debate.
