Shark Bites Boy's Surfboard on Folly Beach

Second encounter with sharks in recent weeks.

A Sunday amateur surfing competition was cut short when a 10-year-old surfer had a close encounter with a shark, according to reports.

The youngster suffered no injuries, but his board's "leash" was apparently bitten by an 8-foot bull shark on Folly Beach, according to news reports.

The young boy was not injured, and he gave a number of TV interviews Sunday after the incident. The surfing competition was delayed until September after the shark encounter.

Earlier in August, an Isle of Palms swimmer was bitten by a shark, and in July a runner found a bull shark beached on Sullivan's Island and a great white has been tracked in local waters
